With a new captain at the helm, our Ladies 2nd team played a very competitive and enjoyable match against the East Bergholt's 2nd Ladies team on Friday 25th October 2024, writes team captain Jennie Palmer.
The winter league is a pared-down version of the summer one; with two pairs per team playing four sets against two opponent pairs.
Despite our opponents being very competent hard hitters, they were unable to defeat the skill and cunning of the Fiona and Sharon pairing, who won three of their four matches.
Meanwhile, power duo Wendy and Jennie managed to win two of their four sets played, with plenty of deuces thrown in for good measure, alongside some very lengthy tie-breaks too, which kept our hotshots out in the autumn night until well after 11pm!
However, chocolate biscuits - kept in the infamous East Bergholt tin - kept everyone entertained and sustained for the evening, with the final result being a 5-3 overall win for the Sax L2.
