Wednesday 19th February 2025 saw our Saxmundham Ladies 2nd team play the East Bergholt 2nds at home in Sax, writes new team co-captain Jennie Palmer.
This was a rescheduled home match against East Bergholt (due to the February weather of course) and it involved some very enjoyable and lengthy tennis matches against worthy and fun opponents.
Plenty of laughter, a fair number of "sorry"s, and a very loud off-court feline fight accompanied our play.
The result was a tie-break apiece for Fran and Imogen, and Wendy and Jennie, with each pair winning two games and losing two - the end match result being a 4-4 draw.
Our team mascots (two of whom are pictured below) were there to will us on, albeit the aforementioned were put under lock and key for earlier non-tennis related misdemeanours.
All joined us afterwards for tea, biscuits and cake.
Woolpit match update
This match followed an earlier continuation of the Ladies 2nd team's winter league campaign, played away on Wednesday 5th February against Woolpit.
On this occasion the team lost 1-7, with Nicole and co-captain Wendy claiming the only winning game that night. But, we enjoyed some really smashing (excuse the pun) tennis against a team of really lovely - and very skilful - players.
